Following the Public Consultation Forum held earlier this month at PPN Pelabuhanratu, GISLI organised a follow-up discussion with the Head of PPN Pelabuhanratu, his team, and the Head of the Fish Auction Facility (TPI) Sukabumi.
The meeting took place at the GISLI TPI office and focused on key issues raised by local fisherfolk during the forum.
The discussion covered two main topics:
1. Improving the Use of the Fish Auction Facility (TPI)
The team talked about how to make the auction facility more useful and accessible for fishers—so that selling fish can be fair, efficient, and better organised.
2. Steps to Support Measured Fishing Practices
The group also discussed how to help fishers follow the new system of measured fishing (Penangkapan Ikan Terukur / PIT), which is part of efforts to manage fish resources more sustainably.
This activity is part of GISLI’s ongoing work under its formal partnership with the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries (DJPT) at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries. The cooperation agreement, signed in May 2025, focuses on helping fishers better understand fishing permits, safety standards, and sustainable practices.
This local meeting in Sukabumi is one step toward making sure that plans on paper turn into real support for people at sea.
