Guarding the Sea, Saving Lives
We are on a mission to prevent maritime incidents and protect lives at sea. Your support can make all the difference
At GISLI, we drive real action in Indonesia’s maritime sector
Our initiatives focus on assisting implementation of safety standards. We optimise government programmes, support outreach, and provide crucial understanding to our members from the lens of law, policy, and governance with people-centred approach. In addition, we raise awareness on safety and sea culture as part of Indonesian national identity.
Our Voyage to Zero Incident
Each pillar of our work aims to create lasting change and have an impact, inviting all stakeholders to safeguard our seas together.
Fisherwomen as an Agent of Change ™
Fisherwomen as agents of change. We empower them to be involved and lead the change in safety education, advocacy, and community leadership — with support from Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries

We build and raise awareness of safety culture for water transportation passengers and water tourism enthusiasts, aligning with events like Selamat Sampai Tujuan™: Maritime Safety and Sea Culture Festival each August–September

We integrate relevant maritime data, providing research, incident statistics, and safety trends to fuel evidence-based and effective policymaking

Turning Vision into Action
GISLI was born from a shared vision: a future free from preventable maritime incidents. We are a passionate team of advocates, researchers, and community organisers committed to turning this vision into reality. We believe that by working together, we can create a culture of safety that protects our nation’s most vital industry and the people who power it
Our Mission is Twofold:
To collaborate with all related institutions in championing and accelerating the establishment of Indonesia maritime ecosystem that prioritizes safety and sustainability
To raise awareness and foster a maritime safety-conscious mindset and behaviour
GISLI’s Strategic
Maritime safety and security is shared responsibilities.
GISLI frames maritime safety and security of human to sail and do business at sea as a shared responsibility, because every group whose life depends on the sea faces similar risks.
In ocean-maritime sectors, from small-scale fisheries and passenger transport to marine tourism—every decision, whether by fishers, fisherwomen, crew, business owners, or policymakers, contributes to collective safety.
